When it comes to creating more artistic photography, I mostly turn to those who are close to me.
Building a bond with the model—a sense of trust—is essential, allowing us to understand one another without the need for words. During my sessions, we speak very little. I seek to create an environment where I can fully observe the person and allow spontaneity to emerge naturally.
Silence becomes central to this process. It is never static; it moves, it breathes. Within this silence, the body begins to speak. It is in these moments of unspoken understanding that the images I value most come into being.
For this exhibition, presented at St Pancras Crypt Gallery, which explores the theme of the mask, and where I am part of a group of 40 artists, I wanted to approach my work from a more personal perspective. Through this session with Estelle, I sought to express my own emotions, to portray fragility and vulnerability, and to reflect on the masks we wear in our everyday lives.
This series explores those layers: what we choose to reveal, what we keep hidden, the fragments and wounds we carry, and the rare moments when something deeply human emerges from behind the mask.
